Eric Starr - Vocalscard_player.jpg

Eric has one of most smooth soulful voices you will hear. His talent coming from his Irish musical family, and has been singing in public ever since he realised people kept the Guinness coming as long as he was singing. He enjoys a broad range of musical styles, singing  everything from rock to R&B, but his heart is in Soul...with a capital "S".

Eric's vocal hero is Luke Kelly and he can sometimes be found with his Irish folk solo act in the quiet pubs of the South Coast (mostly surrounded by Guinness).

While not singing, Eric is busy launching his own web design company, Waterloo Web Design.

Kym Strickland - Vocals

P1000195.jpgKym has proven her undoubted abilities as both an exceptional vocalist and accomplished performer with Soul, combined with attitude!

She began her singing career at an early age and developed her natural talents playing with local bands and musicians, before moving on to session and solo work throughout Europe. This has provided her with the opportunity to feature on many albums and singles, collaborating with artists such as Gabrielle and Sister Sledge.

Her most noted performance came with the release of a raga/rap version of ‘We Are Family’ that charted in 1991, reaching the MTV Top 10. Live, her enthusiasm, experience and natural stage presence combined with her powerful, black, soulful vocals, to give one of the best performers around.

Check out Kym singing Crazy in Love...awesome.

She graduated from Chichester University in 2008 where she trained in contemporary dance and was part of a touring dance company that performed in schools and theatres in the south east. Since then she has formed her own dance company and is a self-employed dance teacher but her real passion lies in singing, which is something she's been doing from a very early age. Her main inspirations come from artists like Eva Cassidy to Alicia Keys and music from R&B and Motown to Musical Theatre.

The versatility of the instrument allowed him to play in Dance Bands, Big Bands, German ‘oompah’ Bands, Orchestras and Wind Bands. He had the opportunity to travel abroad and see places such as America, Bermuda, Spain, Dubai and Italy: funny how we remember the posh hot ones!

Martyn Ellis - Guitar

DSCF6894.JPGMartyn's playing career has been through many twists and turns since his early teens ... writing and performing original jazz/funk instrumentals with various bands led on to touring the UK as lead guitarist in the legendary soul band Chairman of The Board; then into The Realistics, touring Germany; then a stint with rock band Dirty Money... fame and fortune beckoned... but ultimately proved elusive first time around!

Later - once marriage and children forced him to get a "proper" job - Martyn kept his hand in, playing and singing in various semi-pro function bands throughout the South East. Now, with children grown up, his music career is enjoying something of a renaissance; as well as standing in on guitar for Sir Duke, Martyn also "deps" with various other covers bands on guitar and/or vocals; he is re-establishing himself as a composer and producer for film/ad/TV music and he is currently co-writing, recording and producing an album with the upcoming singer/actress/TV presenter Alexandra Legouix and her band The Sunflowers.

Jamie Howell - Guitarcard_player.jpg

From the age of 13 Jamie Howell learnt his guitar craft from the riffs of Page, Hendrix, May and Young, before being turned on to other music by Vernon Reid and Living Colour. Finding himself with a growing interest in Jazz he left the pub rock stages of his native Isle of Wight and headed for Leeds where he studied Jazz at the internationally renowned music college.

A move to Budapest, Hungary, after college saw him expanding his musical horizons to include writing in original rock bands and experimental trip-hop. Now back on UK soil he divides his energy between many musical projects from small Jazz combos to rock bands and solo classical guitar.

card_player.jpgJim Pullen - Bass

Born at a very early age, Jim waited to start his musical career as a seventeen year old trombonist. Realising there was a little more musical action on bass guitar he switched. Since then Jim has been lucky enough to visit countries as far afield as Japan, the USA, Norway and Hong Kong, always with a bass over his shoulder. Jim can often be heard with the Mike Wells Band or in the depths of an orchestral pit.

Jim runs a web design and marketing business when music allows, www.smartchoiceoptimisation.co.uk.

Jim likes nothing more than taking his Springer Spaniel "Dudley Dog" for a walk on a crisp autumn morning, (which is rubbish as there's loads of other things he'd rather be doing, he's a musician after all!)

Adam Linnell - Bass

Adam BW.jpgAdam's playing career has been geared around running the BBO.
